Special Edition “Egoísta - Agustina” in selected points of sale
In honour of Agustina Bessa-Luís, a special edition of “Egoísta” is already available at various selected points of sale. With this, the Estoril Sol magazine dedicates an exclusive issue to the unique journey of one of the most important authors in Portuguese language. It is another edition of “Egoísta” to be kept and which can be purchased via subscription.
“Egoísta” brought the writers closest friends together to pay her a tribute after the publication of the Novel “A Ronda da Noite” (Night Patrol), which has been worthy of the best reviews from specialised critics.
This is the third time that “Egoísta” edits an extra edition. With more than 80 pages, it adopts a format similar to that used when we paid homage to Sophia de Mello Breyner and when we made a Tribute to New York.
Among those who participated with their words to Agustina Bessa-Luís are Alberto Luís, Almeida Faria, Augusto Brázio, Dinis de Abreu, Eduardo Prado Coelho, Fernando Pinto do Amaral, Francisco José Viegas, Frederico Lourenço, Hugo Neves, Inês Pedrosa, João Lopes, José Manuel Mendes, Lidia Jorge, Maria Carapeto, Maria, Velho da Costa, Mário de Carvalho, Patrícia Reis and Rui Vasco, and also Mário Assis Ferreira, who signed an open letter.
In an editorial with an epistolary format, Mário Assis Ferreira writes about Agustina: “it is this spontaneous frankness, her apparent carefree way in which she observes the world and in which she gives, to those who read her work and to those of us who wish to know her more, her strange interpretation of the mundane and essential, of the humdrum and the sublime, which makes up this precious gift and permanent surprise of an intelligence which does not cease to astonish us”.
With an unavoidable path in Portuguese contemporary fiction, Agustina Bessa-Luís has written the following novels “A Sibila”, “Sermão de Fogo”, “As Relações Humanas”, “A Bíblia dos Pobres”, “Fanny Owen”, “Um Bicho da Terra”, “Prazer e Glória” and “Vale Abraão”.
Distinguished with various awards for her remarkable career, Agustina Bessa-Luís has been part of the jury of the Fernando Namora Literary Award for the last five years.
